Introduction to Handguns

In this 3 hour introduction to handguns course, Sofia will teach and demonstrate the following topics in a classroom: the function and operation of a revolver and a semi-automatic handgun, the meaning of double and single action, loading and unloading of a pistol, handgun safety, handgun cleaning, handgun storage, how to choose a proper firearm, ammunition malfunction protocols, firearms malfunction protocols, and the fundamentals of shooting a handgun. Fundamentals include stance, breath control, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, and follow-through. Following the shooting portion on the range, students will return to the classroom for a closing chat and bonus content including one’s next steps with a firearm, concealment practices, holster selection, and a Q/A session.
WHAT TO BRING TO INTRODUCTION TO HANDGUNS
*Materials can also be supplied at Ozark Sportsman for an additional fee*
- Eye Protection with an ANSI z87+ rating *not everyday sunglasses/eyeglasses)
- Ear Protection for the indoor range portion
- Pistol *If you do not own a pistol, Ozark Sportsman Range has many pistols available for rent*
- 50 rounds of ammo *If you are renting your pistol from Ozark Sportsman, you are also required to purchase ammo in-store
